Arizona Sheriff Gets Visibly Choked Up Discussing Update on Savannah Guthrie’s Missing Mom Nancy

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is still hoping for the safe return of Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, who remains missing.

On the Friday, February 6, broadcast of Today, NBC’s Liz Kreutz is seen asking the sheriff, “What gives you hope that Nancy is still out there?”

“Wow,” he said, becoming visibly choked up. “You have to have hope. You have to have hope. Come on, this is somebody’s mom. We’re going to find her.”

The case is being treated as a possible kidnapping or abduction and has entered its sixth day. During a press conference held Thursday, authorities revealed that they are taking one of the ransom notes related to Nancy’s disappearance very seriously because of the facts associated with it and what authorities seem to believe is a connection to Nancy.
