INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis police say officers caught up with a suspect in a fatal shooting earlier Thursday night and shot him at the end of a vehicle chase near I-70 and Harding Street.

Medics were called about 8:20 p.m. Thursday to a report of a person shot inside a vehicle in the first block of North Rural Street, just north of East Washington Street.

A woman, identified by coroners as 65-year-old Patricia Wieber, died in that shooting.

IMPD said Friday that it had arrested the suspect, 75-year-old Ronald Cross, for Wieber’s murder.
