Shalom House garden tour fundraiser helps fund food programs

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — What started with grilled cheese sandwiches and soup for five people has grown into one of Boone County’s most vital community resources. The Shalom House, founded in 2002 by six residents who recognized a growing need, is now on a mission to eliminate hunger across the county — one free meal at a time.

Board members Doug Vawter and Becky McClure say the organization’s growth reflects the community’s commitment to its neighbors.

“Our goal is to eliminate hunger in Boone County,” Vawter said. “That’s the goal.”
