
Door knock ends with puppy snatched in Southeast DC theft
Washington, DC — A 9-week-old puppy was taken from a Southeast home after a suspect knocked on the door and grabbed the dog when it ran outside, police said.
The incident occurred around 6:41 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of Southern Avenue Southeast. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the suspect approached the residence and knocked, prompting the puppy to run out.
Police say the individual picked up the dog and quickly fled the scene.
The stolen puppy is described as a brown poodle and shih tzu mix with black spots. Authorities have not released a description of the suspect.
The investigation remains ongoing as officers seek information about the theft.
