Police take person into custody on B&O Trail after shooting in Speedway

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) — Officers with the Speedway Police Department responded Tuesday evening to a domestic disturbance report that involved shots fired but resulted in no serious injuries, according to Lt. Angel M. Rodriguez, public information officer for the department.

One person was taken into custody Tuesday night while the investigation continued.

About 5:03 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 5800 block of Cadillac Drive. That’s in the Speedway Cunningham Park housing subdivision, near the dead end for West 16th Street west of Lynhurst Road.

Officers found that a person of interest had fled the residence on foot. Officers established a perimeter and conducted a brief foot pursuit, leading to the apprehension of the person on the B&O Trail in the 6000 block without further incident, Rodriguez said.

Preliminary findings confirmed shots were fired inside the home during the incident. Emergency medical personnel evaluated several people at the scene. Those people declined further medical treatment after signing medical releases, Rodriguez added.

Detectives took over the investigation and were seeking a search warrant for the home as part of the ongoing inquiry.
