New Jersey Police Dept. Uses Sniper Suit to Target Distracted Drivers

Dunellen, NJ – The Dunellen Borough Police Department issued 74 citations for distracted driving during a targeted six-hour enforcement operation on the 100 block of North Washington Avenue, using an officer concealed in a camouflage “shrub” suit to spot motorists violating New Jersey’s handheld cellphone law.

The enforcement detail focused on the borough’s busy downtown corridor, an area police described as heavily traveled by both vehicles and pedestrians. Officers said the operation was designed to improve safety by identifying drivers using handheld electronic devices while behind the wheel.
