WASHINGTON, DC – A 6-year-old boy is recovering after nearly drowning in a swimming pool at a youth soccer camp held at the University of the District of Columbia, where police say a lifeguard left the area to get food while children were in the water.
Adonis Jackson was found unresponsive at the bottom of the pool during the incident, which occurred while approximately 30 children attending a Nike Soccer Camp were swimming at the end of the day, according to a police report cited by local outlets. The child survived but remains under medical care, with his family warning of potential long-term effects.
