INDOT: 80% of I-69/I-465 interchange project in northeast Indy is complete

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana Department of Transportation on Friday touted its progress on reconfiguring the interchange for I-69 and I-465 on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

The on the northeast side of Indianapolis is more than 80% complete, with construction scheduled to finish by late 2026. The $471 million project began in early 2022, as News 8 has previously reported.

A news release issued Friday from INDOT said drivers can expect continued improvements in 2026 as new lanes and ramps open on the project it calls Clear Path 465. The majority of construction is expected to be complete by summer, although intermittent lane and ramp restrictions may happen later in 2026 as crews finalize work on mainline I-465, I-69, and the I-69/I-465 interchange.

As of late 2025, INDOT’s release said, significant progress has been made, including the completion of 12 out of 14 new bridges and 5 miles of new pavement on I-465. Additionally, the I-465 overpass at 71st Street has been rehabilitated, and several ramps have been completed, such as the ramp from northbound I-465 to northbound I-69, and the ramp from southbound I-69 to westbound I-465.
