INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis man was sentenced to 43 years in prison after he beat his ex-girlfriend and stole her car, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday.
Dennis Patterson, 45, was convicted of criminal confinement, robbery resulting in bodily injury, and domestic battery resulting in serious bodily injury, among other charges.
According to a probable cause affidavit, on Dec. 9, a detective with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was called to assist officers with a domestic assault that had happened earlier in the day.
The affidavit says the ex-girlfriend was choked “possibly on more than one occasion” while they were in her car. She told detectives that Patterson threatened to kill her and told her he would go to jail because of her.
As a result of the assault, the woman suffered multiple facial fractures, a fractured vertebra, a broken nose, and bruising, according to the affidavit.
Patterson was found guilty June 2 and was sentenced Friday. He is being held at the Indiana Department of Correction.
