Hancock County assessor dies at 69

GREENFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — Hancock County Assessor Cindy Roberts died Tuesday at her home in Wilkinson. She was 69.

The Hancock County Board of Commissioners and an obituary announced her death Tuesday. Officials did not disclose a cause of death.

The Hancock County Republican Party said in a Facebook post that Roberts dedicated more than three decades to the community, bringing “a commitment to serving Hancock County taxpayers” as county assessor.

Online election records show she was appointed to the role in a 2022 caucus after the previous assessor left the job to pursue a role in a nonprofit. Roberts was scheduled to serve through 2026. She lost a bid in the May Republican primary for reelect...
