Lucky stop turns into big win for Montgomery County father
Gaithersburg, MD — A routine stop on the way home from work turned into a major lottery win for a Montgomery County father after he picked up a scratch-off ticket at a local gas station.
The man, described as a delivery driver and Gaithersburg resident, purchased a Lucky 777 scratch-off at the Shell station on Quince Orchard Road.
While checking the ticket, he noticed that 25 of the 30 play spots showed the “Autowin” symbol, revealing multiple prizes ranging from $100 to $10,000. Unsure of the total, he asked a store clerk to scan the ticket.
The result confirmed a $50,000 second-tier prize.
The winner said he was surprised when he realized the amount.
Lottery officials said the $20 Lucky 777 game launched in May and includes top prizes of $1 million. Several top-tier and second-tier prizes remain available.
