Candidate Greg Ballard says Indiana secretary of state should be nonpartisan
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Former Indianapolis mayor Greg Ballard announced early Wednesday he is running for secretary of state as an independent.
On Wednesday, Ballard said politics have become too toxic for the secretary of state to have a partisan label. He served two terms as mayor of Indianapolis from 2007-2015 as a Republican. He told News 8 he believes the office responsible for overseeing Indiana’s elections needs to be run in a more professional manner.
