Driver killed after SUV crashes into tree in Valley Center

A driver was killed Friday when an SUV veered off a rural road in northeastern San Diego County and crashed into a tree.

The crash, in the area of Lilac Road and Roble Verde, was reported shortly after 10 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver died at the scene.
