Don’t Lie for the Other Guy campaign
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Buying a gun for someone who cannot legally possess one could cost you up to 15 years in prison and $250,000 in fines.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, and the Department of Justice joined forces Friday for the 26th year of the nationwide “Don’t Lie for the Other Guy” campaign. The collaborative effort raises public awareness about the dangers and consequences of a straw purchase, which occurs when an individual buys a firearm for a person who is not legally allowed to purchase or own one.
