Silver Spring, MD – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a nationwide safety alert warning pet owners to immediately stop feeding eight lots of Raaw Energy raw dog food after testing revealed contamination with several harmful bacteria, including Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella, and Campylobacter jejuni. One sample also tested positive for E. coli O157, a dangerous strain that can cause severe illness in both pets and humans.
The advisory, released January 23, 2026, follows an investigation by the Connecticut and New Jersey Departments of Agriculture after a consumer complaint involving a dog illness. Officials collected and tested eight unopened samples of Raaw Energy dog food, and all eight tested positive for one or more pathogenic bacteria.
