DOE fell 'well-short' of legal local food requirements: State auditor

The Hawaiʻi Department of Education was instructed by the legislature to significantly increase the use of locally-grown foods in school meals by 10 percent by 2025 several years ago -- and the state Office of the Auditor found that the DOE did not meet the goal.
