Bond set at $1M for 2nd teen charged in Shelby County school shooting plot

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A Mississippi teenager arrested in connection with a school shooting plot in Shelby County made her first court appearance on Wednesday, where a judge set her bond at $1 million.

Melanie Little, 17, of Corinth, Mississippi, is charged with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Prosecutors say Little and her co-defendant, 17-year-old Alexis Pickett, planned a Columbine-style mass shooting at Morristown Junior-Senior High School. Pickett, of Rush County, planned the attack for May 25, 2026.

Little was arrested in Corinth in February, but was not extradited to Shelby County until Tuesday, Shelby County Prosecutor Brad Landwerlen told News 8.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Little and Pickett used apps such as Telegram, Discord, and TikTok to plan the shooting, which Little hoped would be “bigger and more successful than Columbine.”

Police say Pickett discussed the shooting plot with multiple people, including Little.

“I want them to hurt,” Pickett said in a Discord chat included in court documents. “I want them to feel how I did....
