Body found in ditch near State Road 135 in Greenwood

GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) — A body was found sometime Friday in a drainage ditch near the intersection of Swartz Crossing and State Road 135, the Johnson County coroner said in an email to the news media on Friday night.

The release said a person walking near the ditch discovered the body and notified authorities, but no time of that sighting was provided. The intersection is halfway between West Stones Crossing Road and Clary Boulevard North Drive in an area with dozens of businesses.

Coroner Mike Pruitt said his office will work to get a positive identification of the person and conduct an autopsy on Monday.

Greenwood Police Department are part of the investigation, the coroner said. The police agency has not shared any information on the investigation.
