FINKSBURG, Md. — A barn fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damage at a Ridge Road property April 18, with investigators now working to determine what sparked the blaze, according to local fire officials.
The fire broke out around 12:13 p.m. at 993 Ridge Road and was discovered by the property’s resident, identified as Steven Singleton.
Fire contained within an hour
Crews from the Reese Volunteer Fire Company led the response, arriving to find flames originating from inside the barn.
Approximately 30 firefighters responded as part of a single-alarm assignment that included a tanker task force, reflecting the need for additional water supply in the area.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about one hour, preventing further spread beyond the structure.
