2026 IndyCar season kicks off with flag raising at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — One sure sign that the start of IndyCar racing is just a few days away: an NTT IndyCar Series flag is now flying above the famed pagoda at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

On Wednesday, IMS President Doug Boles joined Fox Sports analysts James Hinchcliffe and Georgia Henneberry on the pagoda roof to raise the flag and mark the start of the 2026 season.

The raised flag was provided by a new IMS partner, Flags for Good. The Indianapolis-based company will supply all flags displayed on the track’s grandstands, gates, and the pagoda as the official flag of IMS, the Indianapolis 500, and Brickyard Weekend.

“Raising the NTT IndyCar Series flag over the Pagoda with a few of our friends is the perfect kickoff to the season,” Boles said in a release. “Showcasing a partner like Flags For Good during this momentous occasion highlights just how important flags are to us here at IMS.”

“IMS has flags woven into its identity, history, and even its logo,” Flags For Good Founder and CEO Michael Green said in a release. “Flags are a critical part of motor racing, so it makes sense that it is the first sport we dive head-first into as a flag company.”
