18-year-old dies while in custody at Bernalillo Co. Metropolitan Detention Center

BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) — An 18-year-old in custody at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center has died, according to MDC. The inmate, identified as 18-year-old Derrick Benavidez, was initially booked into MDC on March 15.
